The Hydralese®Rx Difference

Solesis’ patented Hydralese®Rx platform provides a library of bioresorbable and biocompatible elastomers composed of poly(glycerol ester) urethanes (PGEUs). These versatile polymers enable controlled-release from days to months, supporting a broad range of drug delivery systems.

Backed by decades of research, Hydralese®Rx boasts tunable properties that make it an ideal excipient for various administration routes, including implantable devices, injectable formulations, and oral or transdermal drug delivery systems.

This versatility supports multiple therapeutic areas, from women’s health to therapies targeting the sensory organs, central nervous system, and endocrine system.

Examples of applications include:

Subcutaneous implants, such as rods or closed geometries, for pain management, HIV prevention, contraceptives, and multipurpose prevention therapy (MPT)

As we collaborate to understand your goals and target product profile, our team uses digital twin modeling to fine-tune your Hydralese®Rx excipient, optimizing for API characteristics, therapeutic dose, degradation profile, and release kinetics.

Hydralese®Rx was developed to address key challenges therapy developers face during drug delivery device development, offering:

Molecule Types Biocompatible Biodegradable Linear Release Kinetics
Small molecule APIs Minimal pH change observed in vitro during Hydralese®Rx degradation Degradation timeframe of 3 to 12+ months; degrades into monomers metabolized by the body Near-zero-order release kinetics
Large molecule APIs No residual inflammation or fibrous encapsulation
Biologics All tissues return to normal upon degradation of Hydralese®Rx after subcutaneous implantation in rats
